The season will run as follows:
27th June: Start of ladder
3th Sept: End of the full ladder (last day for challenges 27th August);
4th-9th Sept: First week of knockout competition (done on a seeded principle: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5) for top eight men. These matches will be played at times organised by players within a week, with games ideally arranged at weekends, given the failing light at this time of year.
10th-17th Sept: Men’s & Ladies’ semi finals (ladies have a rest week the previous week).
Sat 20th Sept 2pm: Ladies' & men’s 3rd place matches & FINALS at 2pm.
(In case of bad weather this will be rearranged for later in the day or on Sunday 21st)
(also: Sat 27th Sept will probably be the day for the club singles champs; Sun Oct 4th: Club Doubles champs - both round-robin day tournaments open to all club members)

2.1. A player can only challenge up to 4 places above their current position (you should have received an email with every player's contact details, if not please email e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Winning challengers take the challenged position on the ladder and the losing player moves down one rung on the ladder (including defaults); all players formerly positioned between the two thus also move down one position. If a challenger loses, everyone remains where they are.
2.2. A player can only take one challenge at a time; so a player cannot challenge or be challenged until they have completed scheduled matches. Once they have completed scheduled matches, and not before, they can accept challenges.
2.3. A player must wait at least two weeks from their last match to challenge the same player again.
2.4. A challenged player must offer two reasonable times for the match within seven days or the match will be considered a default; inability to play or cancelled matches are considered defaults. (You can book a court at the Meadows via 0776 677 4529 – Club sessions are not meant as times to play ladder matches, and priority is given to social tennis – however if a court is free please make use of it). If someone does not respond to your challenge within seven days of you contacting them the match is considered a default and you automatically move ahead of them. With this in mind please give notice when you are away for a week or more. (See 5 below)

3.1. Challengers will supply new balls for each match.
3.2. Matches will consist of the best of three tie-break sets.

The winner of the match must email the result to e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , if it arrives more than 72 hours late, the result won’t count.

If a player will be unavailable to play for a week or more they should email the dates they will be unable to play to e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . They will be moved down the ladder as many places as they are going to be away for in weeks (up to a maximum of four positions). They can then not be challenged until their return date. If a player doesn't do this they will automatically default on every challenge they receive. During the playoff stages players must be available to arrange matches in the planned weeks and on the day of the finals; if you are not available you will have to retire.

If you no longer want to be on the ladder please email e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . New players added after the start date will join the bottom of ladder (men below the last man; women below the last woman).

The ladder is moderated by Jackson, Mike and Fiona who reserve the right to make minor changes to the format – eg expand or reduce the size of the play-offs if numbers have changed.
