Rules
1. SEASON
The season will run as follows:
23th October: Start of ladder
1st February, 2010. Cut-off: players who haven't played a game by the cutoff date are bumped to the bottom of the ladder.
19th March: Last day challenges can be issued.
3rd-4th April: Men's semis (can also take place in any of the following few days).
10th-11th April: Men and Ladies finals.
2. CHALLENGES
2.1.
A player can only challenge up to 4 places above their current position
(you should have received an email with every player's contact details,
if not please email ladder@meadowstennis.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
).
Winning challengers take the challenged position on the ladder and the
losing player moves down one rung on the ladder (including defaults);
all players formerly positioned between the two thus also move down one
position. If a challenger loses, everyone remains where they are.
2.2.
A player can only take one challenge at a time; so a player cannot
challenge or be challenged until they have completed scheduled matches.
Once they have completed scheduled matches, and not before, they can
accept challenges.
2.3. A player must wait at least two weeks from their last match to challenge the same player again.
2.4.
A challenged player must offer two reasonable times for the match,
these times must fall within 14 days of the challenge being issued.
Inability to play or cancelled matches are considered defaults. If
someone does not respond to your challenge within 7 days of you
contacting them the match is considered a default and you automatically
move ahead of them. With this in mind please give notice when you are
away for a week or more. (See 5 below)
3. MATCHES
3.1. Challengers will supply new balls for each match.
3.2. Matches will consist of the best of three tie-break sets.
4. RESULTS
The winner of the match must email the result to
ladder@meadowstennis.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
, if it arrives more than 72 hours late, the result won’t count.
5. HOLIDAYS
If a player will be unavailable to play for a week or more they should email the dates they will be unable to play to
ladder@meadowstennis.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
.
They will be moved down the ladder as many places as they are going to
be away for in weeks (up to a maximum of four positions). They can then
not be challenged until their return date. If a player doesn't do this
they will automatically default on every challenge they receive. During
the playoff stages players must be available to arrange matches in the
planned weeks and on the day of the finals; if you are not available
you will have to retire.
6. REMOVAL AND ADDITION OF PLAYERS
If you no longer want to be on the ladder please email
ladder@meadowstennis.co.ukThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
. New players added after the start date will join the bottom of ladder.
7. MODERATION
The
ladder is moderated by Jackson, Mike and Fiona who reserve the right to
make minor changes to the format – eg expand or reduce the size of the
play-offs if numbers have changed.
